Employment arrangement: Temporary assignment with potential conversion to a full-time Manufacturing Technician position

Work area: Packaging / manufacturing operations

Manufacturing experience is not required; however, it is preferred.

Pay rate: $15-15.50 per hour

Position overview

Albuquerque is seeking dependable, motivated candidates for a temp-to-hire opportunity on a packaging team. This assignment is designed for individuals who want to build manufacturing experience, learn technical skills, and demonstrate readiness for a Manufacturing Technician role.

The employee will receive training and take on more responsibility than in a typical temporary production employee. The employee will not initially perform every Technician duty, but will progressively develop the skills, safety behaviors, and work knowledge needed to be considered for a full-time Technician position.

The assignment will last a minimum of three months and may be extended based on scheduled orientations and business needs. If performance is strong, the intent may be to offer a full-time Manufacturing Technician position after approximately three months or at the next appropriate orientation.

What you will do

Responsibilities may include the following, based on packaging team and production needs:
Support cereal and cereal bar production and packaging operations.
Assemble cardboard totes and prepare packaging materials for finished products.
Assist with material handling and product movement within production areas.
Learn to operate equipment safely and effectively under the direction of the Team Leader and experienced team members.
Participate in equipment startup, changeover, and shutdown activities as trained and authorized.
Support routine equipment checks, basic troubleshooting, and escalation of issues to the Team Leader, Technician, or Maintenance team.
Assist with cleaning, sanitation, housekeeping, and maintaining an organized work area. Follow food safety, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production, quality, and safety goals.
Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, safe work practices, and a willingness to learn.
Perform other production-related duties as assigned.

As the employee gains experience and demonstrates readiness, additional development opportunities may include:

Calibrating processing and packaging systems to meet required specifications.
Assisting with preventive maintenance activities.
Learning to remove and replace selected manufacturing components, such as belts, bearings, chains, motors, and starters, as trained and authorized.
Operating forklift equipment safely, if trained and authorized.
Participating in continuous improvement activities.
Assisting with training new employees.

Schedule and work environment

Packaging operations may include day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
Work may include 12-hour or 12.5-hour shifts. Specific start times, workdays, and assignment schedules will be confirmed before placement.
The plant operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Employees may work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, or wet conditions and around high-speed moving machinery and food allergens.
Required protective equipment and clothing may include safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, hair/beard net, gloves, face protection, and other equipment as required.

Employees must follow all grooming requirements for a food manufacturing environment.

Physical requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.
Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, twist, climb, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 55 pounds.
Ability to climb and work at heights using stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms, as required.
Ability to work safely in varying temperatures and noise levels.
Ability to wear required protective clothing and equipment for extended periods.

Assignment details

If selected for the opportunity:

Will complete required background checks, pay setup, timekeeping instruction, and site training, including and other required topics, if not already completed.
The employee will receive a pay rate of $15.00-15.50 per hour during the temp-to hire assignment.
