Logistics Coordinator
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Logistics Coordinator to support daily logistics, shipping, and inventory operations. This role is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring efficient communication between suppliers, carriers, customers, and internal departments. Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Shipping (60%)
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, suppliers, and customers.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries to meet customer and operational requirements.
- Track shipments and proactively communicate delivery status, delays, and transportation issues.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and carrier paperwork.
- Determine appropriate shipping methods based on procedures, routes, and freight rates.
- Resolve transportation and delivery issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Create transfer orders for outbound shipments.
- Become forklift certified and operate a Big Joe forklift to pull and stage shipments as needed.
Inventory Control (40%)
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP and Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
- Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO practices, lot control, and product traceability requirements.
- Support offsite inventory audits and compliance initiatives.
- Accurately identify, receive, and place products into inventory locations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in logistics, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
- Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles and best practices.
- Experience with ERP systems and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of shipping, receiving, transportation, and freight management processes.
- Experience working with LTL, FTL, and parcel carriers.
- Navision experience is a plus.
- Food and beverage manufacturing experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 6 hours or more.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
- Ability to lift packages weighing up to 54 lbs. periodically.
- Ability to work in a walk-in freezer when pulling products for daily shipments.
- Maintain professional appearance and high standards of hygiene at all times.
