Production Maintenance Mechanic

Now Hiring: Production Maintenance Mechanic
Our staffing agency is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a well-established food manufacturing company in Oxnard, CA.
The Maintenance Mechanic will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, conveyor systems, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and other manufacturing-related machinery. The ideal candidate will have experience in a food manufacturing environment and a strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background.
Essential Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment and electrical components.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) according to established schedules.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
- Complete equipment changeovers as required.
- Service and maintain motors, conveyors, packaging machinery, and production equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Weld and machine parts using shop equipment as needed.
- Rebuild mechanical assemblies, including production-related components.
- Operate production equipment safely and effectively.
- Work from ladders and aerial platforms, including scissor lifts.
- Safely utilize hand tools and power tools.
- Enter and complete work orders in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Perform facility and building maintenance repairs as needed.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all safety requirements.
- Attend required safety meetings and comply with GMP and OSHA standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
- Report and address any food safety or quality concerns immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5-7 years of maintenance mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Conveyor and production equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering blueprints.
- Experience performing troubleshooting, repairs, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance.
- Knowledge of GMPs and OSHA safety requirements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
- Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the food manufacturing industry.
- Experience with CMMS/MRP systems.
- Certified Welding Certificate.
- Journeyman Machinist Certificate.
- Boiler Training Certificate.
- Better Process Control School certification.
- Experience with quality control measurements and production processes.
