Job Opening: Forklift Operator
Description
We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator / Material Handler to join our metal manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of recent experience operating a propane forklift and be comfortable handling metal products in a fast-paced production environment. This role involves sorting and moving materials, consolidating pallets, completing work orders, and maintaining a safe and organized work area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate a propane forklift safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the facility.
- Pick up, sort, stage, and transport metal products and scrap materials.
- Consolidate pallets and prepare materials for shipment or production.
- Load and unload trucks while ensuring accuracy and product integrity.
- Read and follow work orders, pick tickets, and production documents.
- Assist with inventory control and material organization.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and follow all safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work closely with production and shipping teams to meet operational goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent full-time propane forklift experience.
- Experience in a metal manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, lumber, or similar environment preferred.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- Experience handling heavy materials safely.
- Basic understanding of work orders and material documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience loading and unloading flatbed trailers.
- Previous experience handling steel, aluminum, pipe, tubing, or other metal products.
- Forklift certification a plus.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Overtime may be required based on production needs.
Pay
- DOE (Depending on Experience)
