Location: Commerce, CA
Schedule: 1st, 2nd & 3rd shift
Pay Range: $27.00
Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery and facility systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. This role includes troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and supporting production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in response to equipment errors or failures.
- Maintain and repair machinery such as die cutters, web and sheet-fed presses, inserting machines, folders, conveyor systems, and bindery equipment according to diagrams, manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Test, diagnose, and correct equipment malfunctions; perform routine inspections and replace filters, belts, and components as needed.
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine shop equipment (e.g., lathes, drill presses, welders) to perform repairs or fabricate parts.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, tests, and maintenance activities.
- Assist operators with minor mechanical issues and provide training and support when needed.
- Identify and support improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required. Mechanical and/or electronic coursework preferred.
- Typically requires 4–5 years of maintenance experience or equivalent technical training.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; experience in printing, bindery, or packaging machinery is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot AC/DC circuits using a multimeter; experience with pneumatic and hydraulics preferred.
- Proficient in reading diagrams, schematics, wiring drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
- Ability to perform precise measurements of pressure, flow, alignment, and parallelism.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and computer skills (Windows-based applications).
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices.
