Material Handler / Assembly Technician
Employment Type: Temporary to Hire
Shifts Available:
- 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday with mandatory overtime every other Saturday
Pay Rate:
- 1st & 2nd Shift: $17.00/hour
- 3rd Shift: $18.00/hour
Position Overview
The Material Handler / Assembly Technician plays a vital role in supporting warehouse operations and light industrial manufacturing. This position is responsible for coordinating material movement, supporting assembly processes, maintaining quality and safety standards, and ensuring smooth day-to-day production flow. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
This is a temp-to-hire position, requiring completion of approximately 520 hours, with an average conversion timeline of 4–6 months.
Key Responsibilities
Material Handling & Warehouse Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for warehouse material movement, customer interactions, and local transportation providers
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with accuracy and efficiency
- Load and unload freight and materials using forklifts and other power industrial vehicles (certification preferred but not required)
- Stock, organize, and maintain inventory to support efficient warehouse operations
- Maintain warehouse and office supplies necessary for daily operations
- Inspect and maintain work equipment to ensure safe and efficient use
Assembly & Production Duties
- Assemble light commercial air conditioning units using fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Follow all standard work instructions, method sheets, and assembly diagrams
- Operate power, pneumatic, and hand tools safely and effectively
- Load and unload conveyors and carts
- Perform brazing and soldering as required
- Operate machinery, presses, forklifts, hoists, and manipulators
- Conduct quality checks and testing to ensure product standards are met
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Read, understand, and consistently follow all safety operating procedures
- Adhere to all quality standards and report defects or unsafe conditions
- Use all senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell) to identify quality issues and safety risks
- Work under varying temperature and noise conditions
- Follow “andon” protocols and escalate issues as required

Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Stand continuously for up to three hours at a time
- Ability to work on feet for 8–10 hours per day
- Perform repetitive gripping, pinching, and fine motor tasks
- Lift, move, and handle materials as required in a manufacturing environment
- Work effectively in warehouse and production environments with temperature and noise variations
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated reliability and exemplary attendance record
- Basic hands-on knowledge of mechanical or electrical components and related principles
- Prior background in light industrial, warehouse, general labor, loading/unloading preferred
- Forklift experience helpful but not required
- Must be flexible to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
