Shear and Brake Press Operator

Pay: $28 an hour
Schedule: Full-time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Shear and Brake Press Operator with at least 2 years of hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience. The ideal candidate will be skilled in operating shear and brake press equipment to accurately cut, bend, and form metal components while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate metal shear to cut sheet metal to required dimensions.
• Set up, operate, and adjust CNC or manual brake press machines for bending and forming.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine job specifications.
• Inspect materials prior to processing to verify size, type, and quality.
• Measure completed workpieces using calipers, tape measures, and square tools to ensure accuracy.
• Select correct tooling, dies, punches, and back gauges for each job.
• Maintain machine settings, perform routine equipment cleaning, and report mechanical issues.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Assist with material handling, staging, and movement as needed.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating shear and brake press machinery.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and forming processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication prints.
• Skilled in precision measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, squares).
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong commitment to safety.

Preferred Skills

• CNC brake press programming experience (e.g., Amada, Accurpress, etc.)
• General welding or fabrication skills
• Forklift certification or material handling experience
