Description
Porterville College is seeking a reliable and skilled Cook to join our food services team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to students, staff, and faculty in accordance with health and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure food is cooked and stored at proper temperatures.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies.
- Follow food safety regulations and college policies.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service.
- Accommodate special dietary needs when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Services Manager.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in institutional or commercial cooking preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
