Quality Assurance Technician

Irvine CA

  • Maintain a safe working environment (and ensure personal safe working practices).
  • Compliance with all employee job safety requirements and regulations as required by company policies.
  • Back up the Quality Technician/Lead in case of absence.
  • Serves as substitute whenever Shift Technician on leave (emergency, vacation, sick and/or FMLA)
  • Responsible for complying with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. IFS, BRC)
  • Able to perform pre-operational inspections and to report any concerns to their Supervisor
  • Responsible for reporting food quality, safety and other issues to the Quality Assurance Supervisor/Lead or Manager.
  • Able to use the following instrumentation/measuring devices; Thermometers, Metal detectors, Calculators, Scales, Gauges, Caliper, Rulers, and Ovens.
  • Verify COA against specifications for all ingredients and COC or for all packaging materials.
  • Verify shelf life date of all incoming ingredients. Monitor sensitive ingredients (liquid whole eggs, cream, etc.)
  • Performs environmental swabbing for bacteria, pathogens on equipment/ machines, floor areas.
  • Performs and leads monthly Food Safety Audits.
  • Assists QA Manager/Supervisor on Regulatory/Independent inspections and/or audits.
  • Ensures that the correct case label, retail label, or inserts, are used according to specification.
  • Tests final product against established specifications to ensure product quality is met.
  • Monitors plant operations to assure sanitary operational procedures according to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP).
  • Inform management of any Food Safety or Quality issues or of any processes, which become noncompliant with specified requirement.
  • Initiate and complete the hold process for nonconformity product and ingredient or materials. Follow up and complete the disposition when it is determined.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety and the Quality of the product, processes, Quality System, or safety system.
  • Serves as a resource to production employees for quality and food safety.
  • Assist other departments as needed to ensure compliance to food safety, Quality and compliance.
  • Monitors production functions to determine if the product meets set standards.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of various production and QA documents.
  • Performs other Quality Assurance related job functions assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
