Quality Assurance Compliance Specialist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Compliance Specialist to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards in our facility and across our supply chain. This role oversees quality control activities, conducts audits, reviews supplier documentation, supports production teams, and enforces compliance with GMP, HACCP, and GFSI (SQF or BRC) standards. This is a 2-3 month project. Pay is $28-$35 per hour, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Food Safety Compliance:

Inspect production and packaging areas for compliance with GMP, HACCP, and regulatory standards.

Oversee sanitation records, production quality monitoring, and line clearance verification.

Conduct environmental monitoring tests and report results.
-
Monitor employee hygiene and enforce food safety protocols.

Perform internal audits and support external/third-party audits.
-
Investigate non-conformances and initiate corrective actions.

Oversee the pest control program, sanitation program, and supplier management.
Supplier Quality & Compliance:

Verify supplier compliance with food safety plans and certifications.

Maintain supplier scorecards and conduct supplier audits.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety Compliance:

Laboratory & Testing:

Conduct analytical testing on raw materials and finished products (pH, moisture, sensory, etc.).

Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with good laboratory practices.
Documentation & Reporting:
-
Maintain food safety and quality compliance documentation.
-
Report non-conformances and key performance metrics.
-
Conduct research on food fraud risks and update ingredient specifications.
-
Provide thermal processing records to State and Federal authorities.
-
Interface with corporate quality teams to implement corporate standards and complete corporate audits.
Training & Continuous Improvement:

Train employees on quality and food safety protocols.
-
Support and maintain a food safety culture.
-
Assist in customer complaint investigations and process improvements.
-
Oversee the pest control and sanitation programs.
-
Provide training oversight for all technical/lab employees.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

3-5 years of experience in quality assurance and food safety in food manufacturing.
-
Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSMA, GFSI (SQF/BRC), FDA, and USDA regulations.
-
PCQI certification and Better Process Control School training required.
-
Experience with supplier quality management and audits.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
-
Canning experience required.
-
Knowledge of the canning process and working with Process Authorities is required.

Must provide thermal processing records to State and Federal authorities.
-
Familiarity with FSMA and GFSI requirements, including BRC compliance.
-
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment:

Requires standing, bending, and lifting in a manufacturing and laboratory setting.

May involve overtime and extended work hours beyond a standard 40-hour week.
