Description
The Fire Watch is responsible for monitoring work areas for fire hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and taking immediate action in the event of a fire. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe working environment within a corrugated manufacturing facility, particularly by overseeing older machinery that processes various products and chemicals.
– Monitor areas where hot work (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.) is being performed for any signs of fire.
– Keep watch on older machinery to ensure it is operating within safe temperature limits and monitor ink levels to prevent potential fire hazards.
– Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify any malfunctions or signs of wear that could lead to fire risks.
– Maintain a clear line of communication with workers and supervisors regarding safety protocols.
– Use fire extinguishing equipment effectively and be trained in emergency response procedures.
– Conduct regular inspections of fire safety equipment and report any deficiencies.
– Ensure that fire exits and escape routes are clear and accessible at all times.
– Document any incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions and report them to management.
Pay $18hr M-F
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in fire safety or fire watch training preferred.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- May require working in high-risk areas with exposure to heat and noise.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
