Job Opening: Accounting Assistant
Description
We have a direct hire opening for an Accounting Assistant in Richmond at a commercial bakery. This is a 1st shift opening!
- In this role, you will oversee accounts receivable tasks such as processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and following up on collections.
- As you gain more knowledge, you will complete financial forms for the outside sales team that provide accurate pricing information for customer bids.

Schedule and Salary Information:
- Shift: 7 am-3:30 pm or 8 am-4:30 pm; Monday-Friday (Work remotely 1 day a week after the training period)
- Pay: $28 – $31/hour

Job Duties of the Accounting Assistant:
- Process and validate invoices by double-checking pricing and ensuring accuracy before sending to customers via email or their preferred portal
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 20 customer accounts and maintain files and databases to ensure they are up-to-date
- Reconcile customer accounts by verifying payments received through checks or wire transfers
- Follow up on collections by contacting customers with outstanding balances and resolving any billing issues
- Post journal entries to the general ledger
- Understand each customer’s preferred method of communication and payment
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Update each department on financial performance and service delivery during monthly customer review meetings
- Complete financial forms for the outside sales team that provides accurate pricing information for customer bids
- Ensure all financial aspects of bids align with company policies and customer expectations
- Conduct variance analysis between forecasted and actual budgets and propose action plans to address any gaps you have identified
- Collaborate with the Inside Sales Manager, Sales Managers, Marketing, and Logistics to improve processes and achieve company goals
Job Requirements of the Accounting Assistant:
- 2-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, accounts receivable, or accounts payable
- Enhance the financial performance of the company with your insights
- Comfortable with numbers and financial data
- Proficient with software systems
