Job Purpose
The Lab Technician Assistant will work under the direction Quality Manager. This position will perform various laboratory, inspection, and administrative functions such as maintaining existing logs, books, and systems up to date including solution analysis records, tank addition records, lab chemicals supply and shelf life. The Lab Technician provides support to the processing department by ensuring that processing tanks have conforming signs and meet temperature requirements among other duties. This role assists operators by completing inspection of product to ensure it conforms to customer and industry specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Chemical Lab
- Receive, label, and safely store chemical as needed
- Verify expiration date and ensure chemicals are used in a FIFO basis
- Prepare the lab schedule, collect samples from tanks and perform tests needed for analysis and reporting
- Record results of tests and performs analysis of additions / bath maintenance in TrueChem
- Prepare chemical additions per the analysis completed
- Identify trends, discuss, and answer questions regarding the results
- Organize and store chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample.
- Cleans and maintains lab equipment, including recalibration/standardization of equipment
- Maintains equipment records and daily work logs in TrueChem software •
- the wastewater treatment system
- Stays current on technical information pertaining to the baths
Final Inspection
- Complete & document in-process and final inspection XRF readings when required
- Complete & document visual and adhesion inspection when required
- Verify the accuracy of the XRF machines as required per schedule
- Report calibration requirements
- Transport product to the shipping department

Education, Experience and Skills
- One year of experience in Laboratory operations and activities preferred
- Metal Finishing or Chemical Lab experience preferred
- High School graduate / Diploma or GED preferred
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Good time management skills • Critical thinking and ability to learn fast
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of Lab Analysis programs preferred.
