Job description:
Inventory control lead coordinates the day to day activity of the inventory control department to receive and issue parts to the production line according to the production schedule while ensuring inventory accuracy. The inventory lead will be receiving, transferring, and issuing parts in the ERP system, resolving inventory discrepancies, and providing guidance to less experienced members of the inventory control department.
- Coordinates day to day inventory control activities to ensure timely issuance of parts and to meet production schedule
- Manages product inventory accuracy with ERP system though timely and appropriate receipt, transfer, and issuance transactions
- Performs material allocations and inventory issuance in ERP system according to production schedule
- Communicates part shortages for inventory allocations to appropriate departments, purchasing for external procurement and production control for in house production parts
- Matches physical receipts with receiving paperwork and performs ERP transactions
- Researches and addresses discrepancies in receiving paperwork with appropriate parties
- Identified negative inventory in ERP system for responsible area and addresses in a daily basis
- Performs regular cycle counts
- Proactively identifies, researches, and resolves inventory discrepancies
- Identifies, labels, and tags inventory materials
- Creates stock locations and labels
- Actively participates in department goals and activities
- Mentors inventory control team members on policies, procedures and best practices
- Takes a proactive approach to identify opportunities for improvement in processes and assigned work areas, and implements those improvements with managements approval
- Ensures cleanliness, safety, and organization of the receiving, storage and staging areas
- Other duties may be assigned
- Minimum 3 years Inventory control experience
- Previous lead/ supervisory skills required
- Excellent organizational skills- able to stage new material
- Creative skills and willingness to share ideas
- Ability to perform cycle counts daily or monthly
- Previous ERP knowledge and experience- AVIS/SAP
- Discipline
- Basic warehouse skills and knowledge
- Forklift certified- Sit down and reach truck
- Ability to work assigned schedules and overtime as needed
- Intermediate computer skills, MS Word, basic Excel, PDF and Outlook for inhouse emailing/correspondence
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Previous sheet metal experience and understanding
- Ability to match part numbers with visual 3d drawings
