Select is where it all started. When we entered the market in 1987, most companies had pieces of discrete technologies scattered around the building. Every box had a different logo on it and each served its own individual department and purpose.

“Computer” decisions were made in reaction to an immediate need. There was no plan beyond what had to be finished by the end of the day or week.

The term CTO had yet to be coined. But “network infrastructure” had begun to creep into the technology jargon and we saw a need to provide it as an independent, best-in-class solution.
